Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A weeklong film festival featuring 23 Indian and Bangladeshi films will begin at the Bangladesh National Museum auditorium in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Bangladesh Film Development Corporation is organizing the festival. 
A press conference was organized on the eve of the celebration at Hamidur Rahman Sinha Lounge at Dhaka Club on Friday to brief the press on the festival titled ‘India-Bangladesh Joint Celebrations of 100 Years of Indian Cinema’.
A total of eight Bangladeshi films such as Matir Moina, Abujh Mon, Monpura, Surja Dighal Bari, Chaka, Aguner Parashmoni, Lathiyal and Seemana Periye will be screened in the festival.
Indian film director Muzaffar Ali, actor Farooq Sheikh and Tareque Masud’s widow Catherine Masud, among others, were present at the press conference. 
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad is scheduled to inaugurate the festival this morning as chief guest.
 
Four films, including Dadasaheb Phalke’s ‘Raja Harishchandra’, Satyajit Ray’s ‘Apur Sangsar’, Tareque Masud’s ‘Matir Moina’, and Muzaffar Ali’s ‘Umrao Jaan’, will be screened on the opening day. Some Indian classics starring iconic actor Soumitra Chattopadhyay including Ashani Sangket, Dekha, Hirak Rajar Deshe and Sonar Kella will be screened in the festival marking the actor’s contributions to Indian Bangla cinema.
The festival will remain open for all.
