Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): The bourses edged slightly lower in the week after making a positive movement in the last week as the investors realized short term return due to gloomy political and economic outlook.

Week-on-week the General Index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN) went down by 12.87 points or 0.35 per cent to close at 3,707.49 points.

The DSEX slipped 18.76 points or 0.52 per cent to close at 3,571.27 points. The DS30 ended at a break even point, losing 0.06 points to close at 1,322 points.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended marginally lower last week with the Selective Category Index of the CSE lost 10.81 points or 0.15 per cent to close at 7,049.65 points.

The total turnover value for the week at DSE (consisting of four trading sessions) stood at BDT 8.0 billion which is 0.86 per cent lower than the last week’s total turnover value.

However, based on the daily turnover basis, the week performed better than the last week. The daily average turnover for the week stood at BDT 2.0 billion compared to BDT 1.61 billion in the last week, which marks an increase of 23.9 per cent over the week.

Five listed companies—Heidelberg Cement, Takaful Islami Insurance, Pragati Insurance, City General Insurance and City Bank were made their corporate declaration during the week.
 
Newly listed Bengal Windsor Thermoplastic was the week’s most traded stocks with shares worth BDT 522.45 million changing hands.
 
Bangas was the week’s highest gainer posting a rise of 33.24 per cent while Isalmi Bank was the worst loser, slumping by 16 per cent.
