Chittagong, Bangladesh (BBN)– The weekly tea sale on Tuesday witnessed blenders were more active especially for liquoring varieties that resulted in further appreciation in the prices for such varieties.

Loose tea buyers lent some support, according to a market report.

Better liquoring Dusts were again a dearer market following strong competition.

CTC LEAF: 32,023 packages and 628 packages of old season on offer again met with a strong demand at generally higher rates.

BROKENS: Good liquoring BOPs were in stronger demand and generally appreciated by BDT 2.00 to BDT 4.00. Smaller brokens also witnessed good competition whereby prices appreciated by BDT 5.00 to Tk 7.00 and these could be quoted between BDT 173 and BDT 178. Larger brokens also saw better demand and were generally firm to slightly dearer.

FANNINGS: Good liquoring fannings continued to attract strong interest and were mostly dearer by up to BDT 5.00 and more particularly the brighter liquoring varieties. These could be quoted between BDT 170 and BDT 175. Best varieties were similarly dearer and these fetched prices between BDT 178 and BDT 183. Medium types were a very strong market and prices often moved up by BDT 10 whilst the plainer types were about steady.

CTC DUST: 5,133 packages and 10 packages of old season on offer met with a stronger demand. Good liquoring varieties were keenly competed for and were dearer by up to BDT 10 and sometimes more. All others also sold well and were fully firm to dearer following quality. Blenders were stronger with good support from the loose tea buyers.
