Chittagaong, Bangladesh (BBN)- The weekly tea sale on Tuesday followed a similar trend of last few weeks whereby all teas met with a strong demand often at higher rates particularly as the sale progressed, market operators said.
However, higher priced teas were easier following less competition, according to a market report.
Blenders were as active as last whilst there was some interest from the Loose tea buyers.
Dusts sold well at mostly firm rates.
CTC LEAF: 20,331 packages of tea on offer once again met with a strong demand.
BROKENS: All Broken grades were strongly competed for and were mostly firm to dearer often by BDT 1.0 to BDT 2.0. Good BOPs could be quoted between BDT 209 and BDT 211 whilst corresponding brokens fetched similar rates between BDT 208 and BDT 211. Larger brokens were also slightly dearer.
FANNINGS: All Fannings were again a strong market and were dearer as the sale progressed. The best sold between BDT 210 and BDT 211, good between BDT 208 and BDT 209 and medium between BDT 205 and BDT 207. Plainer types continued to be a firm feature.
CTC DUST: 3,133 and 10 packages of old season teas on offer once again met with a good demand. Good liquoring RDs/Ds sold well at firm to slightly dearer rates particularly the RDs. CDs sold well but were generally easier. Internal market lent good support particularly the blenders.
