Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The West Indies will take on Bangladesh in the first match of the two-Test series on September 5 in Kingstown, St Vincent.
The two teams are currently ranked eighth and 10th respectively on the Reliance ICC Test Team Rankings Table, reports icc-cricket.com.
The West Indies, which is currently sitting on 74 ratings points, leads Bangladesh (21) by 53 ratings points.
And because the rankings are weighted to reflect this difference, the West Indies will drop points if it doesn’t win the series convincingly.
A 1-0 series win will earn Bangladesh 13 ratings points and will cost the West Indies eight ratings points, while a  2-0 series win will help Mushfiqur Rahim’s side gain 15 ratings points with the West Indies losing 10 ratings points.
In the event of a drawn series, Bangladesh will benefit by gaining seven ratings points, while the West Indies will drop four ratings points.
In contrast, the West Indies can earn a maximum of one ratings point if it wins both the Tests. In this scenario, Bangladesh will drop two ratings points.
