Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Ms. Crista Räder, the newly appointed Representative of United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Bangladesh met Foreign Minister Dipu Moniat her office on  Thursday and presented her credentials.

During the meeting, the representative briefed the foreign minister on her organization’s activities in supporting the government’s efforts for ensuring food security and supporting the vulnerable groups in Bangladesh, a foreign ministry press statement said.

The foreign minister thanked the WFP representative for her organization’s engagements in Bangladesh and hoped that WFP would continue to support Bangladesh in undertaking more programs in the health sector, especially in the field of maternal health and issues related to malnourishment of adolescent girls.  

Ms. Christa Räder expressed her deep appreciation for the positive changes that have taken place in Bangladesh in the last two decades in social sector. She expressed hope that Bangladesh would be able to achieve its desired development goals.

A German national, Ms Christa Räder, began her research career with the Rural Development Academy in Bogra in 1985. She joined the WFP in 1992 and was posted in Dhaka for four years in the early 1990s. Before being appointed WFP Representative in Bangladesh, she was the head of its Sierra Leone Office.
