Wild elephants kill two in Bangladesh

Sherpur, Bangladesh (BBN)- Two farmers were killed in separate attacks by wild elephants in border areas of the country’s Sherpur district early Saturday and Friday night.
Local sources said a herd of 20/25 wild elephants crossed border and came to Mayaghasi in Nalitabari upazila (sub-district) at about 4:00 am.
Joynal Abedin, 50, was trampled to death by wild elephants in Nalitabari upazila (sub-district) of Sherpur early Saturday while he along with other local residents went to drive them away.
In another incident, Sohrab Ali, 48, resident of Phulhari village in 
Jhenigati upazila (sub-district) sustained injuries in an attack by elephants when he went to collect wood at Gazni border four days back.
He was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries Friday night, according to reports.
