Saint Vincent, West Indies (BBN)-Five wickets from spinner Sulieman Benn helped the West Indies take total control of the first Test against Bangladesh as they dismissed the tourists for 182 on the third day.
West Indies have a lead of 302 runs and could enforce the follow-on on day four to keep the pressure on the tourists, reports abc.net.
The Caribbean side declared its first innings at 7 for 484 before lunch at Arnos Vale, in Saint Vincent.
Kraigg Brathwaite’s marathon innings ended when he was caught at slip by Mominul Haque off Taijul Islam for 212.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who had been part of a 161-run parternship with Brathwaite, ended the innings unbeaten on 85.
The only consolation for Bangladesh was left-arm spinner Islam ending with 5 for 135, but things were soon to get worse for the tourists.
With just an hour to survive before lunch, Bangladesh was quickly down 2 for 18 with Kemar Roach removing Tamim Iqbal (1), who edged to Darren Bravo at second slip and Jerome Taylor removing Imrul Kyes (9) in similar fashion.
Shamsur Rahman (35) and Mominul Haque (51) provided some much needed resistance as Bangladesh reached 4 for 105, before Benn ran through the lower order.
Only skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (48 not out) was able to cope with the turn and bounce generated by the Barbadian left-armer.
Benn ended with figures of 5 for 39 while off-spinner Jermaine Blackwood picked up 2 for 14 in his Test debut.
