Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Pure branding is the core objective for Woori Bank Ltd to join at the Banking Fair Bangladesh-2015 as the country’s large number of the people is yet to inform about the banking operation of the bank.

The bank also lowered it interest rate for personal and home loan on the occasion of the banking fair, Athoi Rahman, principle officer of Woori Bank, told the BBN during the ongoing fair.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman inaugurated the five-day long banking fair on Bangla Academy premises in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The South Korea-based Woori Bank began its operation in Bangladesh as a scheduled bank in September 21, 1996.

It is a largest commercial bank in Korea.

A client will be able to take personal loan of maximum BDT 10 lakh without any collateral securities.

The clients, however, will have to provide personal guarantee against the loan, Mrs Rahman said.

The interest rate of the loan was lowered to 12.50 per cent against the earlier rate of 14 per cent.

The interest rate of the home loan has been decreased to 11.50 per cent against the earlier rate of 12 per cent to 13 per cent.

“We are also encouraging farmers and garment workers at the fair to open account with our bank without providing any initial balance,” Mrs Rahman said.
