World Bank to provide BDT 21 billion to set up food godowns

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The World Bank (WB) will provide Bangladesh BDT 21 billion to set up modern food godowns.

The assurance came from a meeting when a high-level WB representative called on Food and Disaster Management Minister Abdur Razzaque at his office in Dhaka on Sunday.

Earlier, BDT 70 million was allocated under Emergency Cyclone Recovery and Restoration Project (CRRP) for a feasibility study to select suitable places for the warehouses, a press statement said.

Food Secretary BD Mitra, additional secretary of the ministry Abdul Awal Hawlader and director general of food department Ahmed Hossain Khan, among others were present during the meeting.
