Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Director General of World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy is expected to arrive in the capital Dhaka on March 31 on a two-day visit, officials said.
“Duty-free and quota-free market access, IPR extension and special facilities for LDCs under service sector are few of the issues that we will push during the meetings with WTO DG Pascal Lamy,” Commerce Secretary Muhammed Ghulam Hossain was quoted by the Financial Express (FE), a local newspaper, as saying.
Mr Lamy, during his stay in Bangladesh, will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Commerce Minister GM Qader and Finance Minister AMA Muhith, it has been learnt.
The WTO chief will make a field visit to Beximco Industrial Park and Square Pharmaceuticals industry. He will attend the convocation at Dhaka University on March 31.
Mr Lamy will attend a business gathering to be arranged by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and deliver a lecture on multilateral trade issues at Engineers’ Institution in the capital to be arranged by Economic Association of Bangladesh on April 01.
