Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Governor of Yunnan Province of China Li Jiheng arrives in the capital Dhaka on Saturday on a three -day official visit.

He will be leading a six-member delegation that includes high officials of the government of Yunnan Province, an official statement said in Dhaka on Friday.
During the visit, the governor is also expected to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed,Communications Minister Obaidul Quader and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam.

Li Jiheng and members of his delegation will hold a meeting with the President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed.

The governor is likely to discuss possible areas of mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and China in general and Bangladesh and Yunnan province in particular.

Besides, the latest development of the BCIM-EC, a regional integration concept originated from Yunnan's capital Kunming 15 years ago, is also likely to figure prominently during the discussions between the governor and the Bangladesh leadership.

The first meeting of the Joint Study Group (JSG) of the BCIM- EC took place in Kunming in December 2013. The foreign secretary led a high level Bangladesh delegation to that meeting. The second meeting of the JSG is scheduled to be held in June in Chittagong.

Apart from BCIM-EC, other issues of mutual interest like joint collaboration in trade and investment may also come up for discussion, the handout said.

Li Jiheng is scheduled to depart Dhaka on March 31.
