Traders given until June 30 to declare gold, silver holdings
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has offered an opportunity to disclose undeclared gold, diamond and silver by paying a certain amount of tax by June 30, 2019. Under the facility, taxmen will not raise any question on the source of money or the tenure of possession of the disclosed precious metals and diamond.

Japanese Dev Assistance: $2.5b for 4 projects
Bangladesh and Japan yesterday signed their 40th ODA deal involving $2.5 billion to implement four projects to boost ties between the two countries. Economic Relations Division Secretary Monowar Ahmed and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.

BSEC raises general investors’ IPO quota by 10pts
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday approved a draft proposal regarding public issue rules amendment, tightening capital raising process through initial public offering and raised IPO quota facility for the general investors by 10 percentage points.

Bangladesh to seek GCF funding to green textile sector
Bangladesh is looking to secure $166 million in financing to improve energy efficiency in the textile sector, with some one hundred million dollars being sought from the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The Infrastructure Development Company Limited (Idcol), one of two local direct access accredited entities empowered to handle GCF monies, will be seeking $100 million in loans from the GCF, and hopes to secure a further $66 million through borrower co-financing.

Bangladesh revises schedule of auction of repos, ALS
The central bank has revised time schedule of repo, reverse repo, assured liquidity support (ALS) and special repo auctions to help banks manage their funds efficiently. Under the revised schedule, the bid for repo, reverse repo and ALS will have to be submitted from 10:00 am to 3:15 pm for auctions on each working day.

Summit, JERA Asia team up for $500m energy project
Summit Corporation and JERA Asia yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding to initiate an energy infrastructure project at Matarbari in Cox’s Bazar involving an investment of more than $500 million. The initial agreement was signed at the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo in presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is now in Japan on an official visit, Summit Group said in a statement.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday called upon the Japanese businessmen to explore new areas of investment in export oriented sectors in Bangladesh by exploiting full potential of business and trade relations between the two countries.

Bangladesh’s stocks extended the gaining streak on Wednesday as investors continued their buying appetite on the upcoming budget expectation. The market kept gaining as pre-Eid sale pressure eased to some extent while some investors were hopeful about the budget measures to revive the moribund market, according to experts.
